When presented with the brief and drawings for the project, the team at ABC National wanted to push the boundaries of their combined expertise, and work outside of the conventional methods of building. Taking suppliers and contractors by surprise, the home’s architectural elevation is a unique statement, which gives the impression of two different homes within the same block.

During construction, the team faced several challenges surrounding the feature pod, and explored numerous avenues in order to provide a design with structural stability and cost-effectiveness. Through assistance and input from on-site carpenters and engineering staff, all difficulties were expertly resolved, and the pod was eventually designed to resemble a boat hull.

Incorporating a range of features that exude charm and character, the home includes expansive glazing and industrial lighting; polished concrete flooring in the main living areas; a walkway bridge to the main bedroom; and a fireplace punctuated by travertine cladding, with a polished stainless steel flue meeting the six-metre-high raked ceiling.

Connecting the indoor and outdoor zones is an integrated kitchen and barbecue, which encourages seamless outdoor living and entertaining. The alfresco zone comes complete with a stunning cantilevered stone benchtop, and a multi-level pool.

The final result is demonstrative of the exceptional work that the team at ABC National produce, and they take great pride in having been involved in such a unique build.
