Designed by Paolo Denti from pentArchi, this breathtaking property integrates harmoniously with the surrounding landscape, and showcases panoramic mountain views of the Brisbane Valley. The clients required a rural homestead to accommodate their large family. To achieve this, pentArchi incorporated four masonry-block wall blades to divide the highly functional home into three separate zones: a living, kitchen and dining area; a parent’s wing; and a kid’s wing with media room. The home is welcoming and inviting, and features high ceilings, large bi-fold doors, and white-washed wood panelled walls. The central chimney and exposed stonework provide the home with added warmth, while the stylish bathrooms and kitchen add a touch of sophistication.
The central living area transitions seamlessly to the outdoor area, which is ideal for entertaining family and friends. The deck captures fantastic views at sunrise and sunset, and welcomes cool summer breezes. The home utilises passive solar design and is highly energy efficient. The windows are strategically positioned to allow for generous ventilation, while the insulated walls and exterior Weathertex wall cladding ensure that the home maintains a comfortable temperature throughout the year.
There are also three large water tanks installed under the house.
The home exudes character, and showcases a modern interpretation of a traditional country aesthetic. The design encapsulates farmhouse elements such as columns of recycled timber – which was salvaged from an old wooden bridge – and an array of unique up-cycled materials. The north-facing hilltop property pays tribute to the beauty of its rural setting, and provides the family with the privacy, seclusion and expansive spaces that are synonymous with country living.
The expert team at pentArchi worked in close collaboration with the clients, which resulted in a truly unique home that will be enjoyed by the family for many years to come.
