“The client wished to build a home on a block of land on the Toowoomba escarpment. The block sloped steeply from the road and the design of the building needed to both respond to this whilst also creating a dwelling that was easy to live in. By creating a floor plate in which all living areas are on the ‘top floor’, sometimes difficult on a site such as this, circulation between primary living spaces did not require the constant use of stairs. Additionally, by locating these spaces on the top floor the ceiling shape was able to be manipulated in a way which allowed the full extent of the view to enter the dwelling.”
